Digital Media Strategy
The Multimedia Department is committed to using digital media to advance the mission, vision and policy objectives of the Chicago Urban League. We are committed to telling our stories and producing content that promotes positive images of African Americans.
Our strategy is to build on the success of the two Emmy-award winning seasons of nextTV and leverage the power of the internet and social media to establish a digital media voice that expands the Chicago Urban League's reach in spaces such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and mobile applications. Our goal is to continue to build a strong online community and reach an even larger audience.
African Americans make up 30 percent of Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace users. This tells us that we are moving in the right direction and that we must meet our target audience where they are and provide them with the tools and information they need in real time.
The Chicago Urban League social media outlets will feature the following content
- Facebook: We encourage you to LIKE our page. You could win free classes; get the latest information about housing, entrepreneurship, job postings, education, workforce issues.
- Twitter: FOLLOW us on Twitter and Stay connected. We send out daily tweets about upcoming events, links to new feature videos, classes, interesting articles, and re-tweets from organizations and companies.
